Windows Wine Compatibility Layer 10.0 Third Release Candidate Now Available

As the feature code freeze continues, the Wine team has put together a third release candidate for the next stable major release of Wine 10.0, due in early 2025. There are no new features as they are focused only on bug fixes at the moment. New features will return for development versions following Wine 10.0.

Here are all the bugs noted as fixed for Wine 10.0-rc3:

  • #11674 Dual-core not supported in WoW and SC2
  • #49473 Chaos Legion videos play backwards
  • #52738 No keyboard input in “STREET CHAVES – O LUTADOR DA VILA”
  • #56319 Parallel Port Tester won’t start (fails to locate driver “System32\Drivers\inpoutx64.sys”, but changing to absolute path works)
  • #56348 Bricks: moving a brick causes it to quickly change position
  • #56471 starting native program with “start /unix…” is broken
  • #56632 Explorer cannot run any files in Windows ME compatibility mode (or lower)
  • #56714 Startopia stuck on black screen on launch
  • #57227 1946 IL-2 crash during startup
  • #57286 Dark Age of Camelot – camelot.exe requires igd10umd32.dll but the .dll file was not found.
  • #57319 Painting in a proprietary application is broken with the Vulkan renderer
  • #57515 desktop mode no longer displayed the taskbar
  • #57523 PokerTracker 4: impossible to get started
  • #57525 Systray icons cannot be interacted with
  • #57541 CMake can’t find toolchain

Taken from release notes.

At some point after the release of Wine 10.0, we’ll see Valve and its partners at Codeweavers update Proton and then we will also see a Proton 10.0 version. We don’t know exactly when this will happen, however, for the release of Wine 9 to Proton 9, it took about a month and a half to arrive.
