Andhra and PhysicsWallah sign Rs 1,000 Cr deal to set up innovation university

Amaravati: The Andhra Pradesh government and EdTech company PhysicsWallah have signed an agreement to set up a University of Innovation (UoI) at an investment of up to Rs 1,000 crore.

UoI is set to become the state’s premier institute of excellence and aligns with Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s aim of providing artificial intelligence education to the state’s youth (AI) and other emerging technologies.

“We are committed to investing up to Rs 1,000 crore through GSV Ventures – US and other investors, the aim is to create an institution that combines academic learning with industry relevance. The UoI will help learners acquire the skills they may need in an ever-changing job market, with the aim of fostering entrepreneurship and innovation,” PhysicsWallah Founder and Managing Director Alakh said on Friday Pandey, in a press release.

The UoI will strive to combine academic excellence, innovation and research, focusing on solving key education and employability challenges.

Following a hub-and-spoke model, the university will serve as a central hub with satellite centers across the southern state serving as spokes.

Additionally, with an aim to keep the program aligned with the market, PhysicsWallah collaborates with industry partners like Amazon Web Services India Pvt Ltd to provide industry-relevant training.

IT Minister Nara Lokesh added that the partnership with the EdTech company aims to advance innovation and equip the youth of Andhra Pradesh with skills as per industry demands and standards.
