100 vulnerable women in Badagry receive N20,000 from WAPA — News — The Guardian Nigeria News – Nigeria and World News

Mrs. Sesi Ogungbe-Yusuf, Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA) Supervisor of Badagry-West Local Council Development Area (LCDA), on Saturday empowered over 100 women and vulnerable persons of the council with 20 000 Naira each. empowerment, Ogungbe-Yusuf said this would enable them to improve their small businesses and celebrate Christmas and New Year celebrations in their various homes.

The supervisor, who is contesting the 2025 Lagos State Council presidency, said she was committed to empowering women and promoting gender equality in Badagry communities.

She said the program was designed to help women who are struggling to make ends meet.

“Today we come together to celebrate the resilience and determination of remarkable women who have been selected for monetary empowerment.

“The cash grants of N20,000 are just to enable them to celebrate Christmas.

“I am committed to working tirelessly to promote the welfare of women and girls in Badagry West, and I hope to have the opportunity to do so as President of Badagry West in the future,” a- she declared.

Ogungbe-Yusuf thanked those who contributed cash to the success of the empowerment.
Mr. Joseph Gbenu, Chairman of Badagry-West LCDA urged the beneficiaries to use it for its purposes.

Gbenu assured council members that he would organize another monetary allocation in early 2025 that would benefit more residents in the area.

He, however, commended Ogungbe-Yusuf for assisting the council through the empowerment of residents.
Mr. Abu Oriyemi, an APC leader from Lagos State, also commended the supervisor for the empowerment.

He said party elders were monitoring her activities, adding that she would reap the fruits of her work.

Oriyemi praised her for helping the vulnerable and women despite the country’s economic challenges.

Ms Deborah Dosu, one of the beneficiaries, promised that she would use the money for this purpose.
She thanked the supervisor for helping them.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that notable personalities present included Mr. Peter Metome, Chairman of the APC LGA, and Mr. Bashir Yusuf, Secretary of the Leaders Forum.

Others are: Chief Dakar Arogunjo, Mr. Osenatu Okejale, Apex Woman Leader APC Badagry West and Mrs. Esther Awhanjinu.
