Science quiz: test your knowledge about Antarctica, Earth’s frozen continent

Antarctic is the frozen continent of Earth. Covering 5.5 million square miles (14.2 million square kilometers), it is larger than Europe and Australia. It contains about 60% of Earth’s total fresh water, with some ice up to 3 miles (5 kilometers) thick in places.

But this was not always the case. During the Cretaceous Period (145 to 66 million years ago), when dinosaurs roamed the Earth, Antarctica was ice-free and covered in subtropical rainforest.serving as a land bridge for these giants disappeared to cross continents.
