Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot feeds the homeless on Christmas Eve | UK News

Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot showed up unannounced at a homeless shelter to help feed those in need on Christmas Eve.

Dalot, 25, and his wife Claudia Lopez surprised staff and service users at homeless charity Lifeshare in Manchester Tuesday.

The couple arrived with donations of food and clothing before helping to serve hot meals.

Dalot, from Portugal, said: “I have lived in Manchester for over six years now and I am proud to call this city my home.

“Unfortunately the number of homeless people is increasing; as a family we want to raise awareness and directly help people wherever we can.

“We started working with Lifeshare, an incredible charity that does so much to help vulnerable people.

“The volunteers I met here today are truly inspiring, they are true heroes and it was a pleasure to experience their dedication.

“I’m really grateful to have been able to spend time with them and play a small part in helping to deliver such vital work for the people they support.”

Lifeshare trustee Jahan Hussain thanked Dalot for his support after it closed this year – on the charity’s 40th anniversary.

“It wasn’t long ago that we weren’t sure if our much-needed Christmas project would go ahead, so to have a visit from someone so high-profile is incredible,” he said. declared. “Diogo and his wife were brilliant and got involved. It was a real mood lift for everyone.”

Lifeshare is offering food, hot showers and a change of clothes between 7am and 7pm every day this week.

The charity also works with barbers, vets and opticians to be able to provide homeless people with haircuts, eye care and care for their pets.
