Houston airports expect 3.4 million people to pass through Bush and Hobby airports this holiday season

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Are you planning to travel this vacation?

Our Houston Airports expect 3.4 million people to use Bush and Hobby airports from December 19 to January 6 during peak season.

“It’s a little quiet,” said Brandy Dallas, who is traveling to Las Vegas with her family. “I didn’t expect it to be this quiet. It’s Christmas Eve!”

Shortly after 6 a.m., American Airlines was forced to stop all flights due to a technology issue.

The good news is that the ground layover only lasted about an hour and most flights experienced only minor delays.

“I was a little worried when I saw the news. But it looks good so far. Santa is coming to get me,” said David Hamilton, who is traveling to Virginia.

Airport officials said Friday, Dec. 20, was the busiest airport day of the holiday season, with 207,000 passengers passing through the two airports.

Travelers should watch out for Thursday, Boxing Day and Sunday, when families will return home for work on Monday.
