Storms dissipate as the sun rises and a calmer Christmas Day is expected

FORECAST HIGHLIGHTS:

  • STORMS TONIGHT: Storms persist east of I-35 from 2:00 a.m. to 3:00 a.m.

  • CHRISTMAS DAY: Dry with lower humidity, maximum near 70°

  • THURSDAY: Another chance of random rain

  • WARM UP: Maximums well above average, above the 70s for the last days of 2024

CHRISTMAS EVE:

Storms continue to move across the Coastal Plains overnight/early Wednesday morning, but will clear out of the area by sunrise on Christmas morning.

Slightly drier air pumps for a quieter Christmas Day, with highs near 70° and more afternoon sun.

A drier and calmer Christmas Day expected

LOOKING TO THE FUTURE:

Another burst of moisture returns quickly Thursday, leading to some areas of morning fog and drizzle in places. As a disturbance spreads across the state, occasional showers and a few thunderstorms will then be possible, mainly early in the afternoon.

After that, rain chances are all but out of the forecast for the rest of the year, as high temperatures climb into the unseasonably warm upper 70s to close out 2024.

More updates to come! And don’t worry, we’ll keep Santa informed of storm risks tonight!

7-day forecast as of 12/24/24.
