As Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders launched a door-to-door registration drive for ‘Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana’, the Women and Child Development Department of the Delhi government on Wednesday clarified that ” no such program currently exists. The development has sparked a political row ahead of the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections.

This public notice came after AAP ministers, MPs and volunteers launched a massive public awareness campaign to enroll people in the ‘Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana’ and ‘Sanjeevani Yojana‘.

Reacting to the statement, AAP leader and former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal said his political opponents were unhappy with his party’s ‘Mahila Samman Yojana’ and ‘Sanjeevani Yojana’. He also claimed that Chief Minister Atishi may soon be arrested.

“These people are very unhappy with the Mahila Samman Yojana and Sanjeevani Yojana. They plan to arrest Atishi ji in the coming days by making a false case. Before that, raids will be carried out against top leaders of ‘AAP’. I will hold a press conference on this subject today at noon,” he said. wrote in Hindi on X.

Meanwhile, BJP leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa called Arvind Kejriwal ‘a big fraud’. He said, “While filling up forms, his own department (the Ministry of Women and Child Development of the Delhi government) clarified that there was no such system to grant an allowance of 2,100. Those filling out forms for this program are individuals who are doing so to collect data illegally.

What is Mahila Samman Yojana of AAP

Under the ‘Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana,’ women residing in Delhi and above 18 years of age, who are not employed in government or political posts, are entitled to one Monthly allowance of 2,100.

In its Budget 2024-25, the Delhi government announced that the ‘Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana’ scheme would provide 1,000 per month to all women above 18 years of age.

However, ahead of the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal announced that the amount would be increased to 2,100 if his party returned to power in the next elections.

It is estimated that around 35-40 lakh women are expected to enroll in the ‘Mahila Samman Yojana’ and around 15 lakh senior citizens, according to an official statement earlier.

Delhi government says Mahila Samman Yojana ‘does not exist’

In a public notice, the Delhi government’s Women and Child Development Department said it has received information through media reports and social media posts that “a political party” is claiming give 2,100 per month to women in Delhi under the ‘Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana’.

“It is specified that no project of this type has been notified by the Delhi Government“, read the statement issued by the Department of Women and Child Development on Wednesday.

Since such a system does not exist, “the question of acceptance of the form/request for registration under this non-existent system does not arise”, the press release further underlines.

“Any private person/political party who is collect forms/requests or collect information from applicants in the name of this scheme, he commits fraud and has no authority,” the ministry said.

Delhi government warns against sharing personal information

The Delhi government department has warned citizens that sharing personal data such as bank account information, voter ID card, telephone number, residential address or any other sensitive information in the name of this program “may result in a risk of information leaking into the public domain.” which can lead to crime/cybercrime/bank fraud.”

The ministry said: “In such a situation, citizens will be entirely at their own risk and will be held responsible for all consequences. »

The Delhi government further advised residents of the national capital “not to fall prey to the false promises of this non-existent project, as these are misleading and without any authority.”

It states: “The general public is also urged to exercise extreme caution when sharing personal information with any unauthorized person, to avoid any fraud or data breaches in the future.”

A digital platform will be launched

The Delhi government has announced the launch of a digital portal to facilitate registration and submission of applications for those eligible for the scheme.

“The eligibility criteria and procedure will be clearly communicated by the department from time to time. Details of all programs of the department are available only on the website of the department,” the statement said.
