Abure urges citizens to forgive and pray for valiant soldiers — News — The Guardian Nigeria News – Nigeria and World News

The National Chairman of the Labor Party, Mr. Julius Abure, has charged Nigerians to use the Christmas season to love, forgive and pray for the soldiers who keep us safe.

Abure, in his Christmas message to Nigerians and party faithful in particular, urged them to always show compassion to the millions of Nigerians living below the poverty line.

He said that Jesus Christ, born in a manger, lived his entire life working to bring smiles to the faces of the less privileged, the poor, the oppressed, the depressed and the sick.

“It will interest you to know that few households in Nigeria can afford to join in today’s Christmas celebration due to the economic challenges Nigeria is facing today.

“But I take this opportunity to charge society to show love to a neighbor who may be in one form of lack or another.

“Also at this time, I am thinking of all the men and women who serve in the military to keep us safe, and who may not have the privilege of being with their loved ones. Thank you for your service.

“As I speak to you, many of our brave soldiers are in some trenches in many parts of the country ensuring that terrorists and gunmen are kept at bay so that we can celebrate Christmas.

“I urge all Nigerians, especially religious people, to put these patriots in their unceasing prayers.”

Abure said there is nothing that would bring more joy to humanity than being ready and willing to forgive.

“I therefore call on Nigerians to imbibe the teaching of Christ which says ‘forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.’

He said that God has forgiven mankind for their iniquities; and that God loved humanity so much that he had to sacrifice his only son so that we could be redeemed.

“What a sacrifice. Today’s celebration can only be complete when we begin to allow the meaning of Christ’s birth to manifest in our lives,” he said.
