GB News announces surprise new host as presenter gives five-word verdict | Television and radio | Showbiz and television

GB News had another presenter shake-up today (December 27) as royal correspondent Cameron Walker was promoted to lead presenter of Breakfast alongside veteran presenter Dawn Neesom.

His debut didn’t go unnoticed by a viewer named Sharon who emailed him to congratulate him on his efforts. “I love watching Cameron present in the studio. He takes to it like a duck to water, he is very professional,” she wrote.

For his first broadcast, among other reports, he was responsible for interviewing the leader of the British Reform Party. Nigel Farage alongside host Dawn.

The Warwickshire native is a familiar face to viewers of the channel having started as a producer shortly after its launch before becoming the channel’s first Royal Reporter in April 2022.

Her promotion to main host today is just the latest shake-up at the show following Isabel Webster’s removal as Eamonn Holmes’ co-host on the Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday shows.

Just a week before Christmas, the network announced that Ellie Costello, 31, had been promoted to host the program five days a week, leaving Isabel out in the cold.

The 41-year-old has hosted the GB News Breakfast show with Eamonn, 65, since it launched in 2022. She previously worked for Sky News and the BBC.

On December 18, a GB News spokesperson said: “Ellie Costello will now co-host GBN Breakfast five days a week, alongside Eamonn Holmes on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and with Stephen Dixon on Thursday and Friday. Stephen and Anne Diamond will continue to co-present GB News Breakfast at weekends.

The Breakfast show isn’t the only show to have been in major upheaval as presenter Mark Dolan also found himself axed.

The Friday Night Live host tweeted the news, saying: “STATEMENT. GB News has made the decision to permanently relieve me of my duties at the network. I will speak publicly about this in due course.”

He has since created a YouTube channel and announced that he will be hosting a brand new show, The Mark Dolan Show, on the platform in the new year.

The “world premiere” of his new project will take place in January 2025. He spoke to X to explain what people can expect from it.

“MARK DOLAN SHOW UPDATE I’m going to invite LEFTIES on the show. It will be TERRIBLE for the ratings, but I want the show to reflect ALL VIEWS. World premiere January 2025,” he wrote.
