Mother of former wife of Ooni of Ife, Naomi Silekunola is not begging the families of the deceased and parents of the victims of the Ibadan stampede to forgive my daughter.

Funmilayo Ogunseyi shared a video on social media and an interview with media personality, Daddy Freeze, in which she explains what happened that day, over 35 children lost their lives for the venue of a funfair that Naomi bin is organizing for children on December 18, 2024.

She was named former queen alongside three persons remanded in custody after their appearance at the Iyaganku Magistrate’s Court for Ibadan.

They are reportedly facing charges bordering on conspiracy, negligent acts causing harm, and failure to provide adequate security and medical facilities for the event.

She and the Dioda defendants will remain in custody until they appear in court again on January 13.

Ogunseyi, in an interview with Daddy Freeze, asked Nigerians to help them seek the release of their daughter for custody.

She said the event assumed it would be held around 10:00 a.m. but they don’t hear that pipo didn’t already crash on the event at 5:00 a.m. and they throw pikin ova di fence to get to the place.

She explains that after the stampede, Naomi went to report the police but the police have arrested her since then.

“Around 6 a.m. we hear something is happening, some women are throwing balls at the fence and shoving each other during the event,” she said.

“I’m ready to visit my parents and apologize to them, I’m just asking for mercy at this time. I’m not happy with the situation, my children are not happy with the situation.

This is not what we are planning, we do not intend to kill Pipo, in fact we have not even been able to go there until today, we are not able to ‘have Dia. There are too many people and we run, report the police, get everyone to help me beg and release my pikin.

“Make them help me beg the families who lost Dia Pikin at the carnival in December. We won’t be for a decade, but we will never witness this.”

We are making arrangements for security – the family of the former Queen Naomi.

Ogunseyi says they are making necessary arrangements for security, but the security officials assume they are coming to monitor the event around 8:00am, but they have already crashed the event around 4:30am.

She explains that her own security personnel are on the ground and they sleep all night to protect the place.

Also, Akinfolarin Ogunseyi, brother of Naomi, said not to be his sister for the first time in organizing the event and they made necessary security arrangements for the Ibadan Christmas funfair .

I explain that the crowd is getting out of control because some are sleeping for the venue and after the stampede, all the gifts they intend to share are wasted because of the sad incident.

I say that they are not receiving any notice, that she will remain in custody, but she is already not going to the magistrates’ court and is asking for pre-trial detention, I am her sister.

“Because it’s not happy, I don’t think I’ll tell them to sacrifice my sister. You’re not able to take control of humans, make them have sympathy for her.

Make sure they don’t let my sister die, she is a sweet girl who is not like Wahala. Nigerians demand to defend my sister and release her.”
