Odisha forms committee to review existing laws and suggest amendments – ThePrint –

Bhubaneswar, Dec 27 (PTI) The Odisha government on Friday constituted a law commission under the chairmanship of retired judge Justice Biswanath Rath.

The commission would review the existing laws and suggest ways to improve and amend them, official sources said.

“…The State Government hereby appoints Justice Biswanath Rath as Chairman, Surya Prakash Mishra, Senior Advocate and Soura Chandra Mohapatra, Senior Advocate as members of the Odisha State Law Commission” , says a notification issued by the legal department.

Advocate General Pitambar Acharya and Principal Secretary, Law Department, Manas Ranjan Barik, were made ex-officio members of the panel.

The commission would also identify old laws and rules that have become obsolete and suggest ways to implement reforms, the sources added. PTI BBM RBT
