After Arcane, the League of Legends cinematic universe is heading to three new locations

You’re not alone if you feel empty after finishing Arcana Season 2. I just finished Act 3 and I already want to know what’s next for Jinx, Caitlyn, Vi and everyone. It was an explosive finale and I’m sure we’ll all be making theories for years to come, but this isn’t the end of Riot. League of Legends cinematic universe. Now that Arcane is finished, showrunner and co-creator Christian Linke confirms that there are several follow-ups in the works, and we even know where we’re going next.

With over 150 champions in League of LegendsRiot has no shortage of characters for future series. THE MOBAThe universe is constantly expanding and Linke confirms that we are going well beyond Piltover in the near future.

“When I looked at two or three bigger threads on Reddit that said ‘they’re going to make more shows or movies, what will the focal points be?’ Almost all of the most voted directions are ones that we are exploring,” Linke said during a Twitch chat with LoL content creator “Necrit94.”

“So we are investing quite a bit in Noxus, Ionia, Demacia. We really start with character stories, but I’m confident we’re investing in the right stories.

Arcane takes place almost entirely in the twin towns of Piltover and Zaun, a place where champions like Caitlyn, Heimerdinger, and Jayce all call home, but if the end of Season 2 is any indication, many characters are now moving beyond the city.

Noxus is the home location of Arcane’s Ambessa Medarda and her daughter Mel, and it appears the latter was returning home right at the end of episode nine. Noxus is considered tyrannical and bloodthirsty, so it’s unclear what Mel will do, but she will likely play a role in this Noxus-centric project. Plus, the Black Rose is still on the prowl, and it seems this saga isn’t over yet.

Then there’s Ionia, home to League of Legends champions like Yasuo and his brother Yone, as well as fan favorites like Irelia and Akali. The archipelago’s culture is shaped by balance, and as Riot’s official description of the country states, “the boundary between the material and spiritual realms tends to be more permeable here, particularly in the wild forests and mountains”.

The impact of Arcana on League of Legends

The last region Linke mentions is Demacia, where heroes like Garen, Lux, and Sylas come from. You may remember that throughout Arcane there was a lot of talk about Piltover’s distaste for mages and the Rune Wars. Well, Demacia is an isolationist region that serves as a refuge from sorcery after the Rune Wars, with a nation built on petricity – a stone that dampens magic.
