Statement from UFC Macau’s Biggest Loser After First Career Loss

Wang Cong has released his first statement since his first MMA loss to Gabriella Fernandes at UFC Macau.

Cong entered the fight as a near -1000 favorite. She had an undefeated 6-0 record and a long kickboxing career, including a victory over current flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko.

“The Joker” was expected to run through Fernandes with relative ease, and that was the case until she ran into a headbutt in the second round, suffering a knockdown and being choked out by her opponent +625.

In a press release published in social mediaOn November 25, Cong thanked her supporters and emphasized that she still believed she was “the one”:

“Thank you to those who came on Saturday night and to the fans who supported me. It’s a fighting game, one mistake can cost you the match. But I’m fine, no injuries and I’m in good spirits. I still believe it’s me no doubt I’ll be back soon. (UFC). Congratulations also (Fernandes), thank you for accepting the fight. I hope you enjoy this trip to China.”
