Norfolk OPP investigating home invasion, suspect still at large

Two people have been charged as police continue to search for a third suspect in connection with a home invasion investigation in Simcoe.

It happened shortly before 11 p.m. on October 13 at a house on Grove Street.

Norfolk County OPP said three people entered the home where they “interacted with seven occupants,” some of whom reported minor injuries. Police said the suspects were also armed with what appeared to be firearms.

The suspects then fled in a red sedan.

At approximately 10:30 a.m. on October 17, officers executed a search warrant at a residence on Lockie Drive in Oshawa. Two suspects were taken into custody without incident.

During the search, investigators found and seized a replica firearm as well as a vehicle.

A 24-year-old Oshawa man is charged with:

  • Assault (two counts),
  • Breaking and entering into a dwelling house with intent to commit a criminal act,
  • Firearm – use during the commission of an offense,
  • Confinement (seven counts),
  • Mischief – hinders, interrupts or interferes with the lawful use, enjoyment or exploitation of property (two counts),
  • Occupant of a motor vehicle knowing that there was a prohibited or restricted weapon,
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose,
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm.

A 26-year-old Oshawa man is charged with:

  • Assault (two counts),
  • Assault with a weapon,
  • Breaking and entering into a dwelling house with intent to commit a criminal act,
  • Firearm – use during the commission of an offense,
  • Confinement (seven counts),
  • Mischief – hinders, interrupts or interferes with the lawful use, enjoyment or exploitation of property (two counts),
  • Occupant of a motor vehicle knowing that there was a prohibited or restricted weapon,
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose,
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm,
  • Uttering threats – causing death or bodily harm (two counts).

Both defendants remain in custody.

Police are still trying to identify and locate a third suspect, described as a large man.
