New mannequins will ‘significantly’ improve training for nurses on island

Donation from the Henry Bloom Noble Healthcare Trust

Student nurses on the Isle of Man benefit from the opportunity to practice their essential clinical skills in a safe and realistic environment.

Two new simulation “Juno mannequins” have been donated by the Henry Bloom Noble Healthcare Trust.

Nurses can take pulses, blood, perform catheterizations and ostomy care; they can be adjusted to fit both male and female anatomy.

Manikins are interactive and responsive and include reservoir functions that emit fluid when used in procedures including intravenous edema or drainage edema.

Liz Highnett, Head of Theater Education, said: “We can’t thank the Henry Bloom Noble Healthcare Trust enough for their instrumental support in making this possible.

“The acquisition of these mannequins will significantly enhance our nursing student education program, helping to train our next generation of nursing professionals.”

Malcolm Clague, Chairman of the Henry Bloom Noble Healthcare Trust, added: “The Henry Bloom Noble Healthcare Trust is extremely supportive of education and we are delighted to have the opportunity to enhance training on the island.

“Here, students receive a scholarship and don’t have to go into debt or leave friends and family behind.

“Encouraging education on the Island is the key to retaining a qualified workforce in the years to come. »
