Principal Advisor, Prof. Muhammad Yunus, today (December 3) said students are the guardians of the state, asking them to play their responsible role in keeping the country on the right track.

“You (students) are the guardians of the country. Don’t forget that role. Don’t forget your own role. Many are here and many are not. But those who are not here are also the guardians of the country. ‘State.” » he declared during an exchange of views with a delegation from the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.

The meeting took place this evening at the State Guest House Jamuna in Dhaka.

Prof. Yunus said it is the responsibility of the student to ensure that the state moves on the right path.

“If you remember this, the country will stay on the right track. Don’t forget your guardianship,” he said.

Noting that the people of the country have confidence in the students, the senior advisor said: “Don’t be frustrated. You have made the impossible possible. You have changed the country. Only you can do it.”

“You must respond to the aspirations of the people. You must move forward on this path. You have already won one victory, another victory will come. You must remind us repeatedly so that we also remain vigilant,” he added .

During the meeting, the students requested the chief advisor to take steps to check the price of essential commodities, confer state honor on the martyrs of the movement, give top priority to proper treatment of the injured and to ensure optimal punishment for those involved in the movement. the July massacre.

Additionally, students expressed concern over propaganda being spread against the government in the media and social media.

Welcoming the students’ suggestions regarding price control of essential commodities, Prof Yunus said prices of basic commodities must be fixed, while a few people who control market prices will not be tolerated.

He said the government was working hard to keep the prices of raw materials stable and utmost efforts should be made to keep the prices of raw materials stable also during the holy month of Ramadan.

Regarding the students’ suggestion to strengthen local government, Professor Yunus said that there is a commission for local government reform and it will make suggestions and the government will implement them.

Regarding the students’ suggestion regarding state honors to martyrs, he said, “We are working on it. We will not forget the contribution of those who were martyred in July. They will be given a suitable state honor.”

Regarding the students’ suggestion on reforms in the country’s education sector, the senior advisor said that the education system has been completely destroyed and it has been deliberately destroyed so that no one in Bangladesh can become educated or skilled.

“Unemployment has been created. There is no hope for entrepreneurs. We must address it. We must develop the youth to become qualified youth,” he added.

Professor Yunus said that now female students in universities represent about 52% and this is a great joy.

The slavery system whereby seats were previously distributed in universities within political circles has been broken, he said, adding that the educational atmosphere cannot deteriorate.

During the meeting, the students expressed their full confidence and support to the caretaker government and assured the chief advisor of full cooperation in its reform works.

They said the people of the country are with the government because it is their government.

The people want the interim government to carry out the necessary reforms, they added.
