A Chilean woman plunged to her death during a skydive in Brazil on Saturday when her main and reserve parachutes failed to deploy properly, horrific footage shows.

Carolina Muñoz Kennedy, 40, was filmed falling to the ground as she spun out of control.

Bystanders on the ground were shocked to see it fall, eventually crashing onto the road in Boituva, Brazil.

Kennedy had attempted an emergency procedure in the fall. She miraculously survived the fall and was treated by paramedics on scene, but later succumbed to her injuries at a nearby hospital, as reported the Sun.

Witness José Soares de Melo described to local media the moment their group found the doomed paratrooper.

“She was lying on the ground waiting for help and people were calling the fire department and the police,” Soares de Melo said.

“I felt incredibly sad, shocked.”

Police launched an investigation after Kennedy’s death and seized his high-performance skydiving equipment for forensic analysis.

She was also not a novice diver. Kennedy had made previous jumps, even earlier in the day, with the fatal fall planned to be the last before finishing on Saturday.

Kennedy was registered with the Brazilian Parachuting Confederation, which will also prepare a report on the causes of the accident.

“In this difficult time, our thoughts are with our dear colleague, his family members and the entire skydiving community,” the BSC told local media.

“Honey, I still can’t accept your departure, such a beautiful, intelligent, kind, friendly friend. I hope that wherever you are you can fly and do your thing with as much passion,” wrote Marisel Karina Pacini Lepe, a Chilean friend of Kennedy, on Facebook.

“See you later. Hugs in heaven, my friend!”
