Tim Welch explains the key difference if Sean O’Malley faces Merab Dvalishvili

Sean O’Malley’s trainer Tim Welch has explained a key adjustment his fighter would be able to make in a rematch against Merab Dvalishvili.

In September, O’Malley and Dvalishvili collided in the main event of UFC 306. The fight was contested for the UFC Bantamweight Championship. O’Malley struggled to cope with Dvalishvili’s pressure and grappling and thus lost the 135-pound gold medal.

Welch believes that if a rematch were to happen, O’Malley would have a lot less to worry about.

Chat with people about Submission RadioTim Welch said he thinks Sean O’Malley will get a title rematch against Merab Dvalishvili next. He also revealed that the lack of injuries would be a key difference in a second fight.

“I think it’s very likely,” Welch said. “We fix a few things in this fight and then this fight is completely different, especially if we get Sean to 100 percent where he can go 100 percent and let loose, not be afraid to engage, not be afraid to ‘get knocked out and just lean in or not be afraid of getting taken down, get back up and just be able to create a rush and not worry about your cardio and not worry about. his hip pain, I think this is very likely to happen.
