    Netanyahu government approves settlement expansion plan in Golan Heights

    The Israeli government on Sunday approved a plan to expand Israeli settlements in the Golan Heights, saying it acted “in light of the war and the new front facing Syria” and with the aim of doubling the Israeli population on the Golan.

    “Strengthening the Golan means strengthening the State of Israel, and that is particularly important at this time. We will continue to preserve it, make it flourish and settle there,” said Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the press release.
