Some disagree with popular dancing traffic cops’ behavior towards driver, Singapore News

A popular traffic cop known for his energetic dance moves recorded and posted online a heated exchange with a motorist at an uncontrolled intersection near Claymore Hill and Draycott Drive on November 2.

Devon Woon, who has gained popularity for his unique style of traffic direction, was managing traffic affected by road works when a dispute arose with a driver.

The incident involved a misunderstanding regarding hand signals, with Woon claiming the driver failed to comply with an order to stop.

The driver, whose registration number is SGR1N8R, allegedly drove past Woon’s signal, almost causing a collision.

In the video, the woman closes her window and says, “I thought you told me to go?”

Woon then points at her and shouts, “I asked you to stop!”

The woman calmly responds: “Please don’t shout.

They continue to disagree on whether or not she stopped by the woman who asked for her number. He ignores her and yells at her to “go” and “get out of here.”

Woon cited several potential traffic violations in his YouTube caption and said he would file a traffic violation report without an accident.

He has since made his video private but the clip is circulating on TikTok, Reddit, Facebook and other YouTube pages.

While some defended Woon’s actions, others criticized his response as being too aggressive.

One Reddit user asked: “Which one is the Karen?” The driver or the one pointing at the driver?

Another pointed out that the driver’s low speed and short distance traveled after the incident did not indicate any malicious intent.

“He is clearly too aggressive and perhaps very prone to power trips,” the commentator added.

Although Woon’s forceful approach has earned him the affection of many, some say a more measured response would have been appropriate in this situation.
