Volunteers needed for Kitchener’s outdoor rink program

With cooler weather approaching, the City of Kitchener is looking for volunteer winter rink coordinators.

They would be responsible for leading a team responsible for maintaining a neighborhood outdoor skating rink.

According to the city, volunteer coordinators oversee the rink’s daily operations such as flooding, snow removal and ice maintenance. They also take care of funds and relay city information to rink volunteers.

Here are the neighborhood rinks that still need winter rink coordinators for the upcoming season:

  • Alpine Park, 175 Kingswood Drive.
  • Belmont Park, 285 Belmont Avenue West.
  • Chicopee Centerville Community Center, 141 Morgan Avenue.
  • Max Becker Commons (Williamsburg Community Center), 300 Max Becker Dr.
  • Victoria Hills Community Centre, 10 Chopin Drive.

Winter Rink Coordinators must be 18 years of age or older, live near the winter rink, be able to perform physical tasks such as lifting, be available earlier in the morning and late in the evening according to needs.

If you are interested in volunteering at an outdoor winter rink as a coordinator or general rink volunteer, apply online, e-mail [email protected] or call 519-741-2200, extension 22. 7564.
