Dallas Stars vs. Winnipeg Jets preview

On Thursday night, Peter DeBoer’s men played their first game since returning from Finland for the league’s Global Series last week. The Stars earned a 3-1 win over the Chicago Blackhawks, ending their two-game losing streak and losing both games to the Florida Panthers on the road.

Scott Arniel’s troops once again picked up another result in the win column Thursday night, shutting out the Colorado Avalanche 1-0. The Jets continue to be the class of the NHL right now, amassing 13 wins in 14 games.

Dallas Stars vs. Winnipeg Jets Predictions

Between the posts, Jake Oettinger has bounced back well after conceding six goals against the Panthers last weekend. The 25-year-old stopped 25 of the 26 shots he faced to earn his fifth victory of the year.

Sam Steel led the way for the Stars against Chicago, recording a goal and an assist in just under 15 minutes of ice time. Center has 349 games of NHL experience, collecting 120 points.

In the blue paint for Winnipeg, Connor Hellebuyck helped lead the Jets to their league-best win total. The two-time Vezina Award winner made 35 saves to post his second shutout of the year. After 10 starts, the goaltender has a save percentage of 0.923.

Author of the only goal of Thursday’s meeting, Gabe Vilardi pocketed his fifth goal of the year. The 25-year-old center is on a hot streak as he has scored in two straight games and has scored five in his last six outings.

After a red-hot showing in this new season, Kyle Connor has been absent from the stat sheet in his last two games, the longest drought to start the season without a point. It’s currently four games in a row and the striker has yet to beat the goalkeeper.

Dallas Stars vs. Winnipeg Jets betting tips

Saturday’s tilt is a Central Division heavyweight bout between two clubs with strong rosters, which should make for an interesting matchup.

That said, the Jets have given the Stars a hard time at the Canada Life Centre, winning 10 of the last 14 meetings. Dallas has won just two of its five away visits while allowing at least three goals minimum in every away game this year.

The Stars’ line matchup could hamper their ability to follow the latest change against the Jets on Saturday. Winnipeg is lethal with the power play, shooting 44.4 percent on the power play.
