Kitchener man arrested after commemorative plaques recovered in Cambridge go missing

A Kitchener man is facing charges related to the theft of several commemorative plaques in Cambridge.

On October 30, employees at a local business discovered copper plates they believed to be stolen. They then turned them over to Waterloo Regional Police.

An investigation revealed that the seven plaques had been removed from the benches at the Victoria Park Tennis Club in West Galt.

Police say a 52-year-old Kitchener man was arrested Wednesday in Cambridge. At that point, an officer seized another plate stolen from the City of Kitchener.

The man was charged with two counts of possession of stolen property under $5,000 and trafficking in stolen property under $5,000.
