Moose Jaw convincingly elects a new mayor

Moose Jaw will have a new mayor with the election of James Murdock Wednesday night, unseating Clive Tolley with a decisive victory.

Murdock received 5,437 votes, while Coun. Crystal Froese finished second with 1,439 votes and Tolley a distant third with just 601 votes, according to the City of Moose Jaw.

Murdock is a past president and current board member of the Moose Jaw Health Foundation and a board member of the Providence Place Health Foundation. He also works with River Street Promotions, raising funds for youth mental wellness and education.

Incumbent Mayor Clive Tolley was first elected in November 2021.

City Council

Moose Jaw will have three new councilors, with Patrick Boyle, Chris Warren and Carla Delaurier all being elected Wednesday evening.

They will join Jamey Logan, Dawn Luhning and Heather Eby who were all re-elected.

Boyle served as advisor from 2012 to 2016 and executive director of the Water Security Agency.

Warren is also a former councilor serving from 2016 to 2020 and has 16 years of experience in municipal administration.

Delaurier was not a council member in the past, but he has lived in Moose Jaw for more than 45 years and owns commercial and rental properties.

Her main concerns that she campaigned on were community safety, affordable housing and job creation.
