NSE introduces F&O contracts on 45 stocks

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) on Wednesday (November 13) announced that it has introduced F&O contracts on 45 new stocks with effect from (wef) Friday, November 29, 2024. According to the NSE circular, Zomato, Jio Financial Services and Avenue Supermarts (DMart) were listed among the notable participants.

This will include companies such as Life Insurance Corporation, Jio Financial Services, Adani Energy Solutions, Adani Green Energy, Nykaa, Paytm, YES Bank and Zomato, among others.

“Members are advised to note that based on the security selection criteria prescribed under SEBI circular vide no. SEBI/HO/MRD/MRD-PoD-2/P/CIR/2024/116 dated 30 August 2024 and approval received from SEBI, Members are hereby informed that Futures and Options Contracts on the 45 following additional securities would be available for trading. “, the NSE said in a circular.

The market lot, strike plan and freezing limit on the quantity of securities will be informed to the members on November 28 through a separate circular, NSE added.

According to the exchange, the market lot, strike plan and freezing limit of securities quantities, as mentioned above, will be announced to members in a separate official circular on Thursday, November 28, 2024.

Currently, 178 stocks are available for F&O trading.

Paytm, DMart, BSE and Adani are among the top gainers

Among the stocks showing a strong upward trend were Jio Financial Services, Avenue Supermarts, BSE, Paytm, Zomato and major Adani group companies including Adani Green Energy and Adani Total Gas.

Jio Financial Services led the pack, climbing 5.78% to Rs 316.70. One 97 Communications, Paytm’s parent company, also saw a sharp rise, up 4.26 per cent to Rs 785.35. Food delivery and fast commerce major Zomato’s share price soared as much as 4 per cent to Rs 269 on trading.

BSE Ltd. gained 2.30 per cent, reaching Rs 4,595.05, while Avenue Supermarts, the operator of DMart retail stores, rose 1.63 per cent to Rs 3,821.00.

Additionally, Adani Green Energy and Adani Total Gas added 2.22 percent and 1.86 percent, respectively.

The move boosted investor buying interest. The inclusion of F&O generally increases the liquidity of a security and attracts both institutional and retail investors, thereby enabling hedging and speculative trading. The additional liquidity often leads to increased trading volumes. Additionally, the inclusion of F&O also paves the way for inclusion of stocks in the Nifty 50 benchmark indices.

The bourse said the market lot size, strike price range and other details of the newly included shares will be announced in an official circular on November 28, a day before F&O trading goes live on November 29.
