Andor Season 2 Will Deliver A Moment From The Original Star Wars Trilogy Era That’s Not In The Movies

The Rebel Alliance and the Resistance have taken up residence on a few different planets and moons over the course of the year. Star Warsstory, and yet Yavin 4 continues to be the best of them all. Finding a safe place beyond the reach of a fascist government may not be an easy task, but the rebels continue to find their way to the gas giant jungle moon Yavin Prime. We see this moon for the first time Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope as the home base of the Rebel Alliance and once again in Thief One. Although we have not yet seen how or why the rebels came to settle on Yavin, Andor season 2 could well give us a glimpse of the creation of this rebel base.

Series creator Tony Gilroy said Empire Magazine that there will be a return to Yavin this season. “I mean, we have to end up in Yavin, right?” So we are going to tell the story of Yavin. No one has yet treated Yavin the way we are going to.

Settle on a planet like Hoth, like the Rebel Alliance does The Empire Strikes Backmakes sense logistically. It has a hard, unforgiving, frozen surface, making it less likely that there will be Empire sympathizers hiding on the planet and less likely that random ships will show up and find them. Obviously we know that this logic wasn’t completely foolproof as the Empire finds it, but it makes more sense, in some ways, to settle on a planet like this than on Yavin 4.

But we also can’t blame the rebels for choosing Yavin 4 as their first major base. From what we’ve seen so far, Yavin is a beautiful place. It’s lush, green and welcoming. It makes sense that rebel leaders would want to set up shop somewhere that feels like a vacation destination – which is probably a nice little morale boost.
