Chats Get More Personal With Custom Streams Being Tested

Threads, Meta’s text-based social network, is experimenting with a new feature that lets users create personalized feeds based on specific topics or accounts. This addition aims to give users more control over their content experience and address concerns about the platform’s algorithmic “for you” feed.

The feature, currently in testing, allows users to create personalized feeds by searching for keywords or adding specific profiles. These feeds can be pinned to the app home screen for easy access, providing an alternative to the default algorithmic and “following” feeds.

This feature is very similar to Bluesky’s Custom Feeds feature, which has been praised for its flexibility and user-centric approach. While Bluesky’s implementation involves a more technical process for creating new flows, Threads’ version seems simpler.

The introduction of personalized feeds comes as Threads faces increasing competition from Bluesky, which has recently seen strong user growth. The move suggests that Meta is actively responding to user feedback and exploring new ways to improve the Threads experience.
