BJP wants Manipur to burn: Kharge – The Sangai Express

As fresh violence erupted in Manipur, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Sunday alleged that the ruling party deliberately wanted the border state to burn as “it serves its hateful politics of division”.
Kharge said the people of the state will never forgive or forget that Prime Minister Narendra Modi left them to fend for themselves and never set foot in their state to cure their miseries.
“@narendramodi ji, Under your dual-engine governments, ‘neither Manipur is one nor Manipur is safe’,” the Congress president said in an article on X.
“Since May 2023, she has suffered unimaginable pain, divisions and latent violence, which have destroyed the future of her people.
“We say with utmost responsibility that it seems that the BJP deliberately wants to burn Manipur as this serves its hateful divisive politics,” he said.
Kharge said at least 17 people had lost their lives since November 7, adding that new districts were being added to the list of conflict-torn regions and the fire was spreading to the northeastern border states.
“You have failed Manipur, a beautiful border state. Even if you visit Manipur in future, the people of the state will never forgive or forget that you left them to fend for themselves and never set foot in their state to cure their miseries and find a solution,” the Congress leader said.
Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi also termed the recent series of violent clashes and continued bloodshed in Manipur as “deeply worrying”.
He urged Prime Minister Modi to visit the state and work towards restoring peace in the region.
