RIO DE JANEIRO, November 18. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov supported Brazil’s proposal at the G20 meeting in Rio de Janeiro to create an alliance to combat hunger and poverty, ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said.

“Sergei Lavrov, who represents Russia at the G20 summit in Rio de Janeiro, spoke at the first plenary session dedicated to the fight against poverty and hunger. The head of the Russian delegation supported the initiative of the Brazil aimed at creating a global alliance to fight hunger and poverty and spoke about our country’s efforts to ensure food security in developing countries,” she told reporters.

The top Russian diplomat also highlighted the significant contribution of BRICS to solving global development problems, as evidenced by the results of the BRICS summit in Kazan.
