RICHMOND — The Jefferson County Farm Bureau board of directors met Nov. 7 at the Crossroads Church Ministry Center in Richmond for its monthly meeting.

There were 10 members present. Trevor Kirkpatrick, director of the organization, was present.

A report was presented regarding the Corporate Transparency Act meeting held on October 29. Chairman John Grafton reported. Robert Moore, an attorney specializing in agricultural law, spoke to those gathered regarding the looming deadline for all corporations, LLCs and partnerships to file the necessary information, explaining what documentation was needed.

Administrator Jeanne Roberts reported on the Straight from the Heart women’s wellness event, which took place in Sugarcreek in October. She noted that 77 women from four counties participated in the one-day event.

The Strategic Planning Committee met to discuss the short, medium and long term goals of the county organization as the board begins the coming year.

Connie Crawford, Belinda Boyce and Jeanne Roberts will present an Ag in the Classroom program to preschoolers in the Toronto City School District on November 8. “How did this get in my lunch box?” » was read to the students and a variety of foods were tasted.

There are many upcoming events available for Farm Bureau members, officials noted.

Ag. The Producer Resources Expo will take place on January 22. The expo will be a trade show-style event, showcasing resources available to local producers from area businesses and entities. There will also be presentations, including: “How to Read a Soil Sample” “Market your agricultural products” “Is a farmers’ market suitable for your products? » “Create an agricultural business plan” And “Plan for a dry year. » Participation in the meeting is free. Information is available at the Farm Bureau office.

The Farm Bureau will present an information day for county township trustees and other elected officials on February 22. The event will cover a wide range of topics, officials noted.

This will be the third year of this well-attended event. Previous topics have included noxious weed management, neighborhood revitalization, access to grants for municipal projects and emergencies.

New topics will be presented at this year’s information day during which a light breakfast will be served before the discussions.

County agricultural agencies will sponsor the Jefferson County Brunch on the Farm event in July. Those interested in participating will visit a local farm where various stations will be set up to demonstrate modern farming practices.

Planning the event involves staff from the Ohio State University Extension Office, NRCS, Soil and Water Conservation and JCFB.

Information will be available as the date approaches. The directors meet every month. All members are invited to attend.
