Bengaluru, Nov 20 (PTI) Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday said he has sought a meeting with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to discuss the “reduction” in the amount of the loan to the State this year, from the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD).
The Chief Minister will visit the national capital this evening.
“There is a Nandini product launch in Delhi, so I am going there. I have also requested a meeting with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman as the NABARD loan to the state has been reduced this year. Last year, Rs 5,600 crore was given, this year it is Rs 2,340 crore. It has been reduced by 58 percent,” Siddaramaiah said.
Speaking to reporters here, he noted that NABARD comes under the Ministry of Finance. “I’ll ask him.”
Asked if he would meet the Congress high command during his visit, the CM said, “I will have to come back (to declare) tomorrow evening. If I have time, I will meet.”
Siddaramaiah is expected to launch Nandini dairy products in Delhi on Thursday.
The Karnataka Milk Federation markets its milk products under the Nandini brand.
