Another man charged in connection with an April 2023 bar fight that ended in a shooting at the Geneva Bar & Grill was sentenced to probation, community service and a suspended sentence Wednesday after pleading guilty to disorderly conduct.

Mikayla Jean Olson, 24, initially faced one count of fifth-degree assault and one count of third-degree riot in the case, but pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct as part of a plea deal in August.

The defense petition requested, among others, a 60-day suspended sentence, no additional prison time, one year of probation, and conditions to stay away from bars/liquor stores and stay away from the Geneva bar.

Video obtained from the bar shows co-defendant Desiree Nadine Klemp, 29, starting the fight when several people standing near the bar threw a large drink and cup at her face after a song she had paid for was skipped on the jukebox. Then a general discussion started inside. Olson was seen on video throwing a drink at someone while others attacked him.

The shooting eventually moved outside, where Dustin Smitty reportedly fired into the air in the parking lot and then fired at a vehicle as it left. He pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree assault, one for each of the two people shot in the vehicle. He was sentenced to three years and three months in prison in December.

Robert James Smitty pleaded guilty to fifth-degree assault in the case and was sentenced to one year of probation in January.

Klemp also pleaded guilty in August to disorderly conduct, affray or affray and is scheduled to be sentenced on Oct. 30.
