Sudbury News: First snowfall of the season Sunday

As temperatures dip below freezing, Greater Sudbury experiences its first snowfall of the season on Sunday.

Light snow showers began falling Sunday morning and are expected to last throughout the day, bringing a total of just over an inch of snow by the end of the day.

The northern Ontario city could see a high of 2°C in the afternoon with some rain, but with winds reaching 15 km/h, the temperature could drop to -7 °C with a wind chill overnight.

By Sunday morning, snow could be seen accumulating on cars and construction sites, but not sticking to roads or roofs.

Normal temperatures for this time of year are 6°C maximum and -1°C minimum.

The weather will warm up over the next few days with a high of 20°C Wednesday afternoon in Sudbury and some rain.

Temperatures are expected to drop on Halloween night Thursday to -2C with another chance of rain or snow showers.

The Ministry of Transportation is reporting Sunday that roads are bare around the Sudbury area.
