VANCOUVER— From ice level at Rogers Place, where the Pittsburgh Penguins took a 2-0 lead but, for the second time in four games, gave it away with disastrous defense, Pittsburgh Hockey Now’s Dan Kingerski explains the most big problem in the Penguins’ quest to untangle two years of playoff-less decline.

Sydney Crosby created a loose puck at the blue line by contacting no fewer than three Vancouver Canucks, and Evgeni Malkin scored a breakaway goal with about seven minutes left, but the Penguins lost 4-3 to Vancouver at Rogers Arena on Saturday night .

It’s worth noting that Crosby and Malkin connected on goal because coach Mike Sullivan not only changed the Penguins’ lines before the game; he changed them several times during the match and overlapped the star players for much of the third period.
