Winnipeg police: Senior shot dead with BB gun

Three youths were arrested after a senior was shot in the head with a BB gun early Monday morning.

Police say officers were called around midnight to reports of a man shot in the area of ​​Hargrave Street and Portage Avenue.

Upon arrival, officers found a man approximately 70 years old injured and he was transported to hospital in unstable condition, but was later restored to stable condition. Police determined the man was shot with a BB gun.

Police said the victim was leaving a restaurant and walking along Hargrave Street when he was shot randomly, while three youths were leaving the area. Witnesses provided a description to police.

Two men aged 12 and 14, as well as a 13-year-old woman, were eventually located and taken into custody, where they face assault and firearms charges.

Winnipeg police allege the youths fired the BB gun randomly and that there are other victims who have not been identified. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Major Crimes Unit.
