Valley Mills residents have their water turned on

VALLEY MILLS, Texas (KXXV) — “Is Your Water Permanently Fixed?” » said the 25News journalist.

“No, it’s not,” said SRC customer Jennifer Williams.

Even though the water is flowing at Valley Mills, the problem is not solved for good.

“We have a Band-Aid and, as far as I know, SRC still owns it,” Williams said.

SRC customer and Valley Mills resident Jennifer Williams said even though Top Hand Cowboy Church paid $15,000 to turn the water back on, it still wasn’t enough to ensure the water kept flowing from the tap.

“And now we’re paying the bill going forward for the repairs that need to be done. So the bill is about $20,000. It’s down to $327 per member,” Williams said.

Williams said of that $20,000, the community paid $13,000, leaving a balance of $7,000.

I contacted Top Hand Cowboy Church, who helped raise most of the money needed to pay off the outstanding debt. Looking ahead, the Church said it would now wait to see how things progress before possibly giving more money.

For now, the boil water advisory in this area is no longer. Williams said there are still problems with the well.

“From what I understand, they want to do a study and they want to see what repairs need to be done so we can repair it and get it repaired,” Williams said.

But despite all the work Williams does to help others pay their overdue bills, she still lives in fear of having her water shut off because she paid her neighbor’s arrears before paying her own.

“I recently received a call from SRC Water saying I had a past due balance of $430 and wanted to know how I was going to take care of it, that they had hired a new well operator and that “They were going to start doing shutoffs here and water shutoffs if people didn’t pay their bill,” Williams said.
