We finally have the first trailer for Luca Guadagnino’s ‘Queer’

Fresh off the viral success of ChallengersLuca Guadagnino will certainly thrill moviegoers again, when his adaptation of Weird hits theaters on November 27.

Starring Daniel Craig and Drew Starkey, the film follows the story of Lee (Craig), a 40-something American expat and drifter who falls in love with a recently discharged Marine named Allerton (Starkey).

The film premiered at the 81st Venice International Film Festival, where it was in competition for the Golden Lion. Now, it’s about to finally hit theaters in the United States. Find out everything you need to know about Weird.


The first official trailer is full of tense and steamy images.

Early on October 29, the first trailer for Weirdand it offers viewers a glimpse of the stark images and even ghostly effects that will seemingly define the film.

“A wise old queen taught me that I had a duty to live,” Craig’s character says in the clip. “You know, overcoming hatred with knowledge, sincerity and love. The difficulty is convincing someone else that they are truly part of you.

Weird hits theaters November 27.

Unfortunately, Weird will not benefit from wide distribution in the United States. The film, distributed by A24 and Lucky Red, will have a limited release starting November 27. It is an adaptation of the novel of the same name by William S. Burroughs.

Weird is adapted from William S. Burroughs 1985 novel of the same namewhich was originally written in the early 1950s, but was deemed too controversial to publish for decades. Guadagnino’s work is the first official film adaptation derived from the book.

Loosely inspired by true events in Burroughs’ life, Weird is considered an extension of his first novel, Junky.

In the early 2010s, Steve Buscemi was directing an adaptation of the book, which was to feature a screenplay by Oren Moverman. Moverman had even written the screenplay ten years prior, and Buscemi did a live reading of it at the Sarasota Film Festival in 2010. However, for unknown reasons, the project never made it past the development stage.

Luca Guadagnino reunites with some of his Challengers collaborators.

For his second film of 2024, Guadagnino teamed up with some familiar faces, including screenwriter Justin Kuritzkes, cinematographer Sayombhu Mukdeeprom, and musicians Trent Raznor and Atticus Ross, all of whom contributed to Challengers.

Building on the critical and commercial success of Challengersit seems fair to say that Guadagnino and his collaborators will create even more magic with Weird.

The cast includes Daniel Craig, Drew Starkey, Omar Apollo and many more.

The cast is certainly stacked Weirdwith Craig, Starkey, Jason Schwartzman, Lesley Manville, Henry Zaga, Drew Droege, Ariel Schulman, David Lowery, Colin Bates, Perla Ambrosini and Ronia Ava. Meanwhile, singer-songwriter Omar Apollo makes his acting debut in the film.
