Halloween predictions in 2024 will be ‘treat-friendly’

Halloween in El Paso is usually a dicey affair when it comes to weather: some years are bitterly cold, while others seem magically perfect.

This year there is nothing scary Halloween forecast – actually, El Pasoans are in for a treat.

With light winds and temperatures in the low to mid 70s, conditions should be ideal for those who want to scour neighborhoods for candy, noted Bladen Breitreiter, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in El Paso .

“It really looks like evening activities during the holidays are going to be pretty favorable,” Breitreiter said.

In the days leading up to Halloween, temperatures will drop below normal starting Tuesday, Oct. 29, but will warm up quickly, Breitreiter said.

“We will see significantly cooler temperatures on Wednesday, well below normal,” he said. “We’re looking at temperatures 10 to 13 degrees below seasonal averages for late October, but that will rebound quickly; we’ll see temperatures for Halloween return above normal once again.”

Although evenings are expected to be warm, temperatures will drop into the 60s by early night.

“If you have late-night activities or parties that happen around midnight, it might be a little chilly for some people,” Breitreiter said.

Typically, the minimum temperature on Halloween is 48 degrees and the maximum temperature is in the mid-70s, according to the National Weather Service in El Paso.
