Suspect wanted after shooting kills 1, injures 2 others at Vancouver mall

VANCOUVER Washington (KPTV) – Police are searching for one or more suspects after one person was shot and killed and two others were injured at the Vancouver Mall Thursday evening, according to the Vancouver Police Department.

Around 7:30 p.m., police responded to reports of a shooting in the mall’s food court. They found one person dead and two others injured, who were rushed to hospital.

Witnesses told police a suspect shot one person and “fired additional rounds that struck two other people,” police said.

Employees and shoppers sheltered in place at the mall, and police said no other injuries have been reported at this time.

Police said there is no active threat, but the suspect(s) are currently unknown. Officers said they are combing through mall security footage to identify the suspect(s), and are still clearing every room of the mall.

Police also said they do not yet know the motive for the shooting, or whether it was random or specific people were targeted.

Anyone separated from their group during the incident should go to the area outside Hobby Lobby, which police say has been set up as a reunification zone.
