‘Hamster Kombat’ Token Hits Record Price With Upcoming Telegram MIA Gaming Season

Hamster fight fans are still waiting for the promised second season of the hit Telegram game after the September token drop, but a release window given by the developers has passed and the HMSTR token continues to sink in the meantime.

HSMTR, hit on The open network (TON), hit a new all-time low price of $0.0025 on Friday, according to data from CoinMarketCap. It is now down 11% over the past week at the current price of $0.0026, rebounding slightly from Friday’s low.

The price of the Hamster Kombat token has fallen sharply since the September 26 launch and airdrop, and is approximately 74% below the peak price as of this writing. This drop looks a lot like that of other top Telegram gaming tokens, with Catizen (CATI) down 71% from its own peak and Notcoin (PAS) down 78% since reaching a a market capitalization of nearly $3 billion in June.

The Hamster Kombat drop was highly anticipated after the Telegram Tap-to-Earn game attracted over 300 million players earlier this year. Around 129 million players were ultimately eligible to claim HMSTR tokens, based on their gameplay.

However, when the token fell, many players complained over the size of their reward, with some taking to social media to say they had received $10 or less worth of tokens, and comparing the airdrop to “dust.”

Hamster Kombat will continue after the token launch, with a second airdrop planned for summer 2025 after a full second season of gameplay. The upcoming overhaul will allow players to take the reins of a game development studio run by hamsteras they design and deploy games, while delivering Tap-to-Earn gameplay.

The anonymous development team recently shared a teaser video showing a first look at the redesign, but a launch estimate “end of October” given to Decrypt The last month has passed since then, with no Season 2 launch and no updated schedule for the refresh.

It’s not just the symbolic price that suffers. Hamster Kombat’s monthly active user count has been dropping lately, dropping more and more each day. According to Telegram’s own data, fewer than 44 million users played the mini-app in the past month, down from more than 100 million at the end of September.
