West Molesey: Tree planting event aims to boost biodiversity

Residents in an area of Surrey have been invited to join a community tree planting event to create new habitats.

From 10:00 GMT until 12:00 on November 30, a variety of saplings, including crabapples, hawthorns, wild cherries, walnuts, chestnuts and cobnuts, will be planted at Grovelands Recreation Ground in West Molesey.

Ashley Tilling, Elmbridge Borough Council’s cabinet member for climate change, environmental services and sustainability, said: “By planting a diverse range of trees we are not only improving biodiversity but also creating a healthier and more dynamic ecosystem for the enjoyment of future generations.

Tools can be borrowed so that everyone can participate in the event.
