Haifax Art Festival announces winners in Daytona Beach

The winners were announced in the 62nd Halifax Arts Festivalwhich took place November 2-3 along Beach Street and Magnolia Avenue in downtown Daytona Beach.

Considered the second oldest festival in Florida, this free event offered a unique blend of fine arts, crafts, music, food and entertainment. It typically draws a crowd of about 30,000 visitors from across the Interstate 4 corridor, from Tampa to the world’s most famous beach, according to organizers.

Presented by the Guild of Museum of Arts and SciencesThe event is the museum’s signature fundraiser. The festival is a juried exhibition and each fine art booth is judged for its originality, execution, presentation and artistic expression.

Here is the list of this year’s winners:

Best In Show, an award presented by the Downtown Development Authority, went to William Kidd, a clay and ceramic artist based in St. Petersburg.

Other top prizes went to Tony Savoie (Mixed Media) of Orlando; Luis Gutierrez (clay/ceramics) of Raleigh, North Carolina; Gustavo Castillo (Watercolors) of Port Saint Lucie; Adair Hinds and Jeffery Virzera (Acrylics) of Jacksonville; and Michael Nelson (Clay/Ceramic) of New Smyrna Beach.
