Prime Minister Trudeau issues bold statement on Brampton Hindu temple attack: ‘This is not about representing Sikhs or…’

Attack on Canadian Hindu Temple: Prime Minister Justin Trudeau strongly condemned the recent violent attacks at the Hindu Sabha Mandir in Brampton, Ontario on Sunday, November 3. The violence, which has caused serious concern, has seen Hindu-Canadian worshipers attacked by individuals allegedly linked to Khalistan separatist groups. Speaking in the House of Commons on Wednesday, Trudeau condemned those responsible for inciting such violence and stressed that Canada’s Sikh and Hindu communities should not be blamed for these actions.

“The violence that we have seen in South Asian communities across the country over the last few nights, let me be very clear. Individuals who incite violence, division and hatred in no way represent the Sikh community or the Hindu community in Canada. ” Trudeau said.

Attack on Hindu Sabha Mandir sparks widespread outrage

The incident at Hindu Sabha Mandir raised alarm among the Hindu-Canadian community, especially after reports surfaced that women and children had been targeted in the attack.

The violent episode follows a series of growing tensions involving pro-Khalistani groups in Canada, who are increasingly vocal about their support for an independent Sikh state.

However, Prime Minister Trudeau made clear that the violence was not representative of the Sikh or Hindu communities in Canada, both of which have a long history of peaceful coexistence.

Indian High Commission condemns “anti-Indian” disturbances

In response to growing unrest, the Indian High Commission in Canada also condemned the attacks and unrest caused by “anti-Indian” elements. A statement issued by the High Commission denounced the disruption of the Hindu Sabha Mandir.

“We today (November 3) witnessed violent disturbances by anti-India elements outside the consular camp co-hosted with the Hindu Sabha Mandir in Brampton, near Toronto,” the statement said. . “It is deeply disappointing to see such disruptions allowed for routine consular work organized by our consulate with the utmost cooperation of local co-organizers. We also remain gravely concerned about the safety of candidates, including Indian nationals, at whose request such disruptions of events are being organized in the first place,” the Indian High Commission added.

Canada’s diverse communities stand united in the face of tensions

Trudeau reaffirmed his commitment to the unity of Canada’s multicultural society, emphasizing that Diwali and Bandi Chhor Diwascelebrated by Hindus as well as Sikhs, should be a moment of conviviality and shared values. “At the time of Diwali and Bandi Chhor Diwas, we see communities coming together to celebrate their diversity and strength; we will continue to defend the unity of Canadians,” Trudeau said.

Prime Minister Trudeau’s message aimed to ease the growing division following the violence, both on the Sikh and Hindu communities expressing solidarity against the extremism that has marred peaceful celebrations of their faith.
