‘Not So Scary’ Haunted House Provides Big Support to Airdrie Food Bank – DiscoverAirdrie.com

The Fixes’ “not-so-scary haunted house” not only helped spread the Halloween spirit once again this year, but also made a significant donation to the Airdrie Food Bank.

For the past few years, Clifford and Tanya Fix, the creators and owners of the haunted house, have shared their love of Halloween with Airdrie by creating the drop-in event. Although entry is free, they ask if possible that you bring food or funds that will be donated to the food bank.

This year they set a personal record for the amount they raised and were able to donate. $1,455.40 and 1,290 pounds of food were donated. Last year, they managed to raise $917 and 1,040 pounds of groceries for the food bank.

“We’ve grown from last year, which is incredible. The community has come out and been phenomenally supportive.”

This year’s theme was “out of this world”, according to Fix, with several people already reaching out to ask how they could help next year.

Over 12 days, the haunted house welcomed 2,577 visitors, including 1,236 alone on Halloween.

“Airdrie is such an amazing community that we’ve had some extra blessings as well.”

Fix went on to explain that she had a coordinator at a special care facility request a morning for some of her seniors with special needs, and that’s exactly what they did.

“We had 20 people with special needs, who had fun and shared a little bit of the spirit of the season, and it was delicious.”

After organizing the morning, the Fixes agreed that they would now host a morning for people with special needs for their Halloween and Christmas events.

This year they are also doing a “The Christmas I Spy Event” Walkthroughthis will be the third time they have hosted this event. Last year, the event raised $1,113.25 and 680 pounds of food. Fix mentioned that they are still figuring out the details and as soon as they are figured out, they will let the public know.

Fix concluded by thanking everyone who visited the haunted house, made the event possible and donated.
