“Nothing happened when I was at home, she always blamed him for everything that happened.”

Mr Sharif told the jury he would speak about his daughter in detail.

He denied beating Sara, but said: “I slapped her several times and it was only because I had to.”

Asked about the bite marks found on Sara, Mr Sharif said: “I didn’t do it.”

The jury has already heard that Mr Sharif and Mr Malik had provided dental impressions and were excluded.

Ms Batool refused to provide a dental impression, the court heard.

Mr Sharif also denies repeatedly burning her with an iron on her buttocks.

All three defendants deny murder and deny causing or permitting the death of a child.

The trial at the Old Bailey continues.
