Fundraiser started for pedestrian hit by truck

Friends of a man critically injured after being struck by a truck when they were attempting to cross the road in Whalley Friday (Nov. 1) have created an online fundraiser to help cover medical expenses.

The organizer, Alicia Narwal, stated that her friend Ravijot (identified only by his first name) is currently in the ICU with severe brain damage. “In addition to his brain injuries, both of his lungs were critically damaged, and he is currently on life support,” reads the campaign.

On Nov. 1, police in Surrey responded to a call around 8 pm about a pedestrian struck by a pickup truck in the 8800 block of 144 Street.

“The truck was making a left-hand turn, westbound onto 88th Avenue, when it struck the pedestrian, resulting in significant injuries.” reads a Surrey RCMP release Friday (Nov. 1).

All funds raised will cover medical expenses and “allow his parents to stay with him without the added burden of financial stress.”

Police ask anyone with information about the collision, including dashcam footage around in the 8800-block of 144 Street around 8 pm Friday, is to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 and quote file# 24-162958.
