Fall River man hospitalized after car rolls over and hits Milford home

MILFORD A Fall River man was seriously injured Saturday after crashing his car into a home on Jillson Circle, police said.

The cause of the accident is currently under investigation, but authorities believe it was a medical issue.

“Accident Recognition goes through the car from top to bottom to make sure there’s nothing mechanical that could have caused the accident, but at the moment we really think it’s of a medical emergency,” he added. Police Chief Robert Tusino said Monday.

The driver and his passenger, both 62 years old, were visiting family members Saturday at 28 Jillson Circle. They left the residence around 4:20 p.m. and the accident occurred almost immediately.

“They backed up from 28 Jillson Circle and fired across the street and hit (the house at) 33 Jillson Circle,” Tusino said.

The car overturned after hitting the house, but police said bystanders managed to right the vehicle. Bystanders helped get the female passenger out of the car, but the man remained unconscious inside.

The man was taken to UMass-Memorial Medical Center to Worcester by a medical rescue helicopter. His condition was unknown later Monday, Tusino said.

The driver has not been cited and the crash remains under investigation by the Milford Police Department and the Law Enforcement Council of Central Massachusetts.
