Oilers vs. Islanders predictions, picks and odds for tonight’s NHL game

Jeff Skinner will make the most of his time alongside Connor McDavid and Zach Hyman by firing shots in front of the Islanders net. We like that the Oilers forward cleared his 2.5 shot prop with relative ease tonight.

The Edmonton Oilers are coming off a resounding 7-3 victory over the Vancouver Canucks and will look to continue their momentum against the visiting New York Islanders at Rogers Place on Tuesday, November 12.

New York is riddled with injuries and has been crushed in the possession game while giving up numerous shots this month, and our top Oilers vs. Islanders predictions call for Edmonton winger Jeff Skinner to fill the shot column.

I delve deeper into Skinner’s game below in my NHL Pick.

Oilers vs Islanders Prediction

My Oilers pick
Jeff Skinner More than 2.5 shots (-110 to BET99)

My analysis of the Oilers

Edmonton Oilers winger Jeff Skinner leads the club in shots (12.21) and attempts (20.82) per 60 minutes, and his respective marks of 12.02 and 20.73 also lead the way at 5v5.

Skinner has bounced around the Edmonton lineup, but he’s ready to skate on the No. 1 line with Connor McDavid And Zach Hyman against the New York Islanders Tuesday. This has also been a clear benefit to Skinner’s possession numbers with McDavid.

The duo has been on the ice for a 57.9 Corsi For% at 5v5, and Skinner sports a 54.2 CF% at 5v5 without the superstar center. Additionally, while there is no guarantee Skinner will stay with McDavid and Hyman throughout Tuesday’s competition, it positions the first-year Oiler for an early increase in skating time on the top line.

Skinner averaged 14:33 of ice time per game before playing just 12:17 on Sunday against the Vancouver Canucks.

I’m not concerned about the Islanders game either. New York has several regulars in the lineup, including three of its top six defenders and go-to scorer Mathew Barzal. The Islanders also lost the possession battle in four of five games with Barzal out of action for a 24th-ranked 46.3 CF% at 5-on-5 while also allowing the third-most shots per night (34.6 ).

Finally, I also appreciate Skinner’s shooting and soaring attempts at home.

Home Far
Shots per 60 14.54 9.54
Attempts per 60 23.89 17.29
Shots per match 3.5 2.28
Attempts per match 5.75 4.14

Edmonton scored seven goals in Sunday’s win over Vancouver, as the Oilers still have a significant statistical correction ahead of their 28th-ranked 6.9 shooting percentage at 5-on-5. The Oil also scored the fewest of goals per 60 (2.29) at 5v5, although he generated the fifth most (2.96).

Add in a 15.8 power play percentage at 24th, which should also see a positive regression given that Oil posted a 26.3% rating at 4th last year, and things are looking up. are improving for Edmonton’s offense.

Still, another seven-goal outburst probably won’t be a possibility. Although the Islanders have noted recent struggles, they have allowed the fifth fewest goals (1.85) and expected goals (2.26) per 60 while also boasting excellent goaltending with a team saves .933 at 5-on-5.

On the other hand, New York scored the eighth-fewest goals (2.09) and generated an average score of 2.51 per 60 at 5-on-5.
