Ontario Provincial Police charge two people in connection with drug trafficking ring in Greater Toronto Area – CP24

Two people face dozens of drug and firearms-related charges after more than four kilograms of drugs were seized in Brampton, police said.

In a news release issued Tuesday, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said they launched a joint investigation with the Niagara Regional Police Service in April to examine drug trafficking activities in the Niagara region.

As a result, investigators said they identified a drug trafficking network originating from the Greater Toronto Area. They said this network is believed to be responsible for trafficking suspected cocaine and fentanyl, as well as other illegal drugs.

On October 23, four search warrants were executed in Brampton by various teams from the Ontario Provincial Police and Niagara Police, resulting in the seizure of five firearms, more than 845 rounds of ammunition and more than 316,000 $ in cash.

They said they also found approximately 2.7 kilograms of suspected fentanyl, approximately 1.2 kilograms of suspected cocaine, approximately 330 grams of suspected MDMA, approximately 11 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 113 suspected oxycodone pills and 50 hydromorphone pills suspected.

As a result, police laid charges against two Brampton residents, Michael Navarro, 29, and Kathy Ann Samuels, 32.

Navarro was charged with 27 offenses, including six counts of trafficking fentanyl, two counts of trafficking cocaine and failing to comply with a restraining order, while Samuels was charged with two drug trafficking offenses. The accusations have not been tested in court.

Police are asking anyone with information about firearms or illegal drugs to contact them anonymously at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers.
